My 80/10/10 Experience

I am taking the plunge. I am going 80/10/10 for 30 days with no excuses and I am going to blog about it every step of the way. I will try to leave a few video blogs and some written blogs throughout my 21 day journey telling you what I am eating and how I am feeling. I am starting August 1st and ending on August 21st.

WHAT IS 80/10/10?

It is eating 80% carbs, 10% fat and 10% protein. You can eat unlimited amounts of greens, fruit, and vegetables. This diet is so  rich in nutrients because all of the whole foods you consume.

There are two ways to do this: you can, and are encouraged, to eat raw on this diet or you can eat cooked starches (brown rice, quinoa, potatoes, corn, beans etc.) Either way, you have to choose whole food sources so bread, crackers and processed foods aren’t good sources of carbohydrates.

I am going to take a raw/raw till 4 approach. I will most likely eat smoothies, fruit and giant salads for breakfasts and lunch. For dinner, I will go for a cooked starchy meal (sweet potatoes, beans, rice, etc.)

The main key is to keep my fat content super low.  Fat tends to creep up and it’s easy to cook with fats but that is not going to keep me under my 10% ratio. 10% fat is about 1/2 avocado a day, which is pretty much a snack for me! I could easily polish off a whole avocado without thinking twice!  The great part is that I don’t need to count calories or restrict them, I can literally eat all the fruit I want! I am really excited for watermelon, bananas, dates and peaches. Oh and cherries. And raspberries. Oh my gosh, I almost forgot honeydew! This should be fun, and not too hard. I will post or vlog about what I eat every day and how I feel!
