This chocolate mug cake recipe is absolutely delicious. I am doing the Arbonne cleanse with some friends and part of the program is that you have two shakes a day. Well, some mornings it has been cold and I just don’t feel like having an ice cold shake. So instead, I make this amazing little concoction which is basically like eating cake for breakfast, without the guilt! There are a few variations that you can make too and I will list some of them! So far, I am loving the Arbonne cleanse. I am not doing it just for weight loss because I am nursing, like I have mentioned before, I don’t generally lose my last 10 pounds until I am done nursing. My goal in this cleanse is to re-train my palate so I start eating clean again. The never ending hunger while nursing has caused me to snack a lot and I dont mean snacking on hummus and carrots! I mean chips, popcorn, chocolate and candy…ooops. So I am one week into this challenge and most of my cravings are gone, I feel leaner and I am never hungry. The best part is, my milk supply is amazing, in the past, my milk supply goes down if I exercise too hard or eat too clean. It hasn’t so I am super pumped on this and will probably do another cleanse month when I am done nursing- that time it will be more for the weight loss benefit!

Enough of my jibber jabber, let’s get to this cake recipe!

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 banana

2 egg whites (you can use 1 egg instead but it tastes more eggy) (or if you’re vegan, like me, you can make a flax egg! 1 tbsp flax, 3 tbsp warm water…let it sit and get thick, then add it like you would add an egg)

2 scoops Arbonne Chocolate protein (I did it with vanilla once too!) You can use ANY protein powder you have.

1 scoop Arbonne fiber mix

1/3 tsp baking powder

1 tbsp almond milk

Variations: add some almond butter, nuts, chocolate chips, blueberries, ANYTHING REALLY. A tbsp of almond butter makes it incredible but it is harder to mix in!

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Grab a microwave safe mug. Mash your banana in the mug. add you egg/egg whites/flax egg and mix.
  2. Now add your protein, fiber, and baking powder and mix well. Scrape the sides so it mixes in.
  3. Add almond milk as needed to get a cake batter consistency
  4. Microwave for 2 minutes
  5. let cool for a little…don’t make the mistake of biting right in because you will burn your mouth, the bottom gets sooo hot! let it cool and then dig in.
